Favorite Things Friday!

My post today is about my favorite thing to use to do my least favorite thing.   UnSew!  UGH!!

I am not a total perfectionist when it comes to piecing.    If I cut off points or my seams don't nest perfectly,  I look at the square and say  " Could I see this from the back of a moving horse?"   If the answer is no, then I will probably leave it the way it is, depending on the purpose of the quilt and my mood at the time.    But everyone who sews knows, that there are times when you just have to unsew.

Well on a road trip a few years ago, I found this!

It is a cheap seam ripper, mounted in a hand carved polished handle.   It is so much easier to work with because of it's longer handle.   I love it and it is one of my favorite quilting tools.

Have a great weekend and if you haven't joined in, think about linking up with us at

Shay at Quilting in My Pajamas, host our weekly link party and we appreciate her.   Come join us!

Nothing like good tools to make the work of un-sewing easier! I have a love/hate relationship with my seam ripper. ;o)

Happy FTF! :o)

If a person HAS to use a seam ripper, it might as well be one like yours. I've never seen one with such a long handle--it would be much easier to work with I think.

Oh, nice. That'd be much better than my little one that came with the machine!

nothing like a good seam ripper and the long handle would be a bonus. I think all sewers hate having to unpick seams. And it always happens when you are in a hurry.

That does look handy, it would be much easier to use with a longer handle. I used to not like using the seam ripper as on more than one occasion I have also ripped the fabric. Now I'm a lot more careful undoing seams and more often than not I undo my sewing because if I don't it's like leaving a big flashing neon arrow pointing to my big mistake .

Oh yes...a good unpicker is absolutely essential to sewing. I use mine a LOT! I have different ones for different unsewing tasks.

Wouldnt it be great if none of us ever had to use one?

This FTF made me chuckle. Thanks for linking up again this week Janice.

I think I need to get a new one of those .. I'm not a perfectionist at all but I do end up ripping things out lots...

That does look a whole lot easier to wield than a tiny one. It's one of those tools you hope you don't have to use, but when you do, you want it to be as comfortable as possible.
